NEW YORK, April 12, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — AutoGrid, the leading provider of flexibility management software for the energy industry, has been named a 2018 silver winner for innovation at the 31st annual Edison Awards™ event.

The award recognizes AutoGrid and its flagship application, AutoFlex™, for innovation in the Energy and Sustainability/Energy Systems category. The awards were presented this week at the 31st annual Edison Awards gala.

Chris Sternberg, AutoGrid president and chief operations officer, joined hundreds of senior executives from some of the world’s most recognized companies to celebrate the effort and commitment of the 2018 Edison Award winners. Past Edison Award winners have included the full range of enterprises from global brands such as Apple, Amazon and SpaceX to startups.

“At AutoGrid, we believe that software and data have the power to transform how energy is used and delivered, enabling our society to transition to a more sustainable future,” Sternberg said. “We’re proud for our talented team of software architects, electrical engineers, data scientists and energy experts to be recognized in this world-class program and humbled to be honored in the legacy of one of the world’s great inventors.”

The awards commemorate iconic inventor and electricity pioneer Thomas Alva Edison (1847-1931), whose discoveries, new product-development methods and innovative achievements won him 1,093 U.S. patents, made him a household name and ushered in the modern era of electrification.

“Our judges recognized AutoGrid as a true innovator out of the many products in its category,” said Frank Bonafilia, executive director of the Edison Awards. “It’s great to see that Thomas Edison’s vision lives on within this select group.”

A panel of more than 3,000 leading business executives, including past award winners, academics and leaders in the fields of product development, design, engineering, science and medicine, judged the ballot of nominees for the Edison Awards. The winners were chosen from a field of more than 400 nominations from around the world.
