AutoGrid, in conjunction with Lawrence Berkeley National Labs and Columbia University, has received a significant grant from the Advanced Research Project Agency for Energy (ARPA-E), a unit of the United States Department of Energy.

Together with its partners, AutoGrid will design and demonstrate automated control software that helps manage real-time demand for energy across the electrical grid. The system will allow personalized price and control signals to be sent to millions of customers in extremely short timeframes – incentivizing them to alter the usage in response to changing grid conditions. This will in turn enable grid operators to better manage unpredictable supply and demand fluctuations – making the process of providing and consuming power more efficient and cost effective.
