Virtual power plants (VPPs)— grid-integrated aggregations of many individual distributed energy resources (DERs)—are taking off around the world. But there’s still a long way to go before VPPs fully deliver on their promise to improve grid reliability and resilience, lower energy costs, and support rapid electrification.
